How To Take 100% Responsibility For Your Life

There’s a basic fact about success that many people overlook.
A casual internet search for personal achievement will yield a plethora of sites that emphasize positive thinking, planning, and the importance of influencing others. And while these areas of interest are important, they are only a piece of the success equation.
To reach your goals, and complete the many tasks that comprise accomplishments, you must do the work. This means whatever you desire must come from your efforts. There are no shortcuts.
For example, if you want to earn more money you either have to get a better paying job, find part-time work, or do both. Maybe you want to buy a house. You need to do the research, figure out where you want to live, get your credit right, know how much money you need to save for a down payment, and stay focused until you’re able to buy a home.
By clarifying your goals, success is not mystical, it’s practical.
Many people believe things will miraculously happen, that a great benevolent being is looking out for them because they’re entitled.
Don’t you believe it!
If you want something you must make it a priority. No one will ever share your passion for reaching your goals the way you do, nor should they. So stop being needy and looking for acceptance and understanding.
What you desire is your business. Therefore, it’s up to you to make it happen. And this starts with taking complete responsibility for yourself.
How does this look?

Let’s take something basic like boosting your income. Say you want to add another twenty grand to your annual earnings, but there’s no opportunity to make the extra on your current job. You may not dislike your job, but you want to earn more money and save for a new car while increasing your savings. Fine.
You have several options; ask for a raise, quit and get a job that pays more, or find part-time work after your weekday shift and on weekends.
While these options are viable, I think we know which one makes the most immediate sense, finding extra work. This is taking responsibility for yourself and, taxes aside, you can save your entire part-time salary for a few years and have a substantial savings.
When you have goals, there’s no waiting, approval-seeking or excuses. You’re focused on making things happen. Period.
If you stay committed and shift your thinking great things happen. Dreams suddenly become reality as the gap between concept and achievement closes. You know just what to do and the steps are clear:
  • Have a goal
  • Plan
  • Have deadlines with benchmarks
  • Stay consistent
When you’re aware, life’s not that complicated. So stop creating chaos.
You’ve been struggling because you lacked clarity and confidence. If you have a well-devised plan, the process will help carry the mental weight affording you peace of mind.
Also, it’s important to note, you must set goals that you can accomplish now, or in the near future. For example, wanting to earn a million dollars in a year probably will not happen, so don’t struggle with it. But through planning and saving money over time, you can become a millionaire.
So now you’re freed from the burden of excuses and a sundry of other fantasies that have stifled your progress.
Everything you desire is firmly within your reach and rooted in taking responsibility for your life.
So what’re you going to do?
Later,
Gary
